While this kind of degradation can be hard to detect in buried 2-wire systems, it\u2019s often the earliest warning sign of bigger problems to come \u2014 like shorts, overcurrent conditions, or decoder and solenoid failure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With this new diagnostic feature, the BaseStation 3200S now displays leakage current values at the decoder level\u2014 both on the controller display and via LiveView. This gives technicians the ability to quickly identify unknown wiring issues underground and take action before they lead to larger issues, or provides installers the peace of mind that initial installations were completed correctly. <\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-accordion\"><div class=\"wp-block-accordion\"><button class=\"accordion\"><div class=\"heading\">Leakage Current Tool FAQs<\/div><\/button><div class=\"panel\">\n\n<p><strong><em>Q:<\/em><\/strong><em> Does this apply to v18 controllers?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>A:<\/em><\/strong><em> No. This only applies to v19 controllers. If a customer has a legacy 3200, they will need to upgrade to the 3200S to get this functionality. <\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/hydropoint.siteproofs.com\/baseline\/products\/upgrade-to-basestation-3200s\/\"><em>Go here to learn more about upgrading<\/em><\/a><em>.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Q:<\/em><\/strong><em> Does this work on all decoders?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>A:<\/em><\/strong><em> No. This capability was added to the valve decoders in 2023 starting with serial number D168001. Older decoders, R-boards, and accessory decoders do not provide a Leakage Current value.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Q:<\/em><\/strong><em> Can a dual or quad decoder return Leakage Current for each wire?<\/em><strong><em>A:<\/em><\/strong><em> No. The dual and quad decoder values are cumulative. The reading measures the difference between the valve wires and the common. Since the common is a single data point, that\u2019s where we base the difference. While the exact wire can\u2019t be determined, we will see Leakage Current at that decoder.<\/em><\/p>\n\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Smarter SubStation Connectivity Handling (BaseStation 3200S)<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Previously, if a SubStation lost connection during a program, irrigation would stop entirely. With the new Pause-and-Resume behavior, the 3200S will now pause the affected program and automatically prioritize it once the connection is restored \u2014 ensuring irrigation stays on track without manual intervention. <\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-accordion\"><div class=\"wp-block-accordion\"><button class=\"accordion\"><div class=\"heading\">Substation Connectivity FAQs<\/div><\/button><div class=\"panel\">\n\n<p><strong><em>Q<\/em><\/strong><em>: Does this apply to BaseStation 3200 v18 controllers?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>A<\/em><\/strong><em>: No. This only applies to v19 controllers. If a customer has a legacy 3200, they will need to upgrade to the 3200S to get this functionality. <\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/hydropoint.siteproofs.com\/baseline\/products\/upgrade-to-basestation-3200s\/\"><em>Go here to learn more about upgrading<\/em><\/a><em>.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Q<\/em><\/strong><em>: Does the SubStation firmware need to be updated too?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>A<\/em><\/strong><em>: No. This is a function of the 3200S watering engine only.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Q<\/em><\/strong><em>: Are there any new messages that show the program is paused due to a disconnected SubStation?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>A<\/em><\/strong><em>: Yes. The 3200S will generate a message for the SubStation to show that it\u2019s disconnected. It will also generate a message for each zone that part of the Paused program to show that they are in a Pause state. As soon as connectivity is reestablished, the messages with auto-clear.<\/em><\/p>\n\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Solar Battery Diagnostics (SubStation RV\/CP)<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-medium\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/hydropoint.siteproofs.com\/baseline\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/08\/Solar-Image-600x353.jpg\" alt=\"Solar Battery Diagnostics - SubStation RV\/CP image\" class=\"wp-image-5499\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Gain full visibility into the health of your solar-powered systems with new battery and panel performance insights available directly in LiveView. Users can now remotely monitor:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Battery charge level, charge status, and capacity<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Voltage and amperage (battery and panel)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Battery temperature<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This enhanced visibility helps prevent unexpected power loss and improves long-term system reliability. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><strong>New Manual Ops + Device Testing (SubStation &amp; SubStation RV\/CP)<\/strong><\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Technicians can now manually operate zones or test devices directly from the SubStation display or remotely via LiveView \u2014 even without a BaseStation 3200S connected. This makes it faster and easier to confirm wiring, valve operation, and decoder communication in the field.&nbsp;&nbsp; Read the knowledgebase article.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Note: Manual zone operations from a SubStation will not trigger normally-closed master valves or pumps \u2014 these must be managed through the controller connected to the CP.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-accordion\"><div class=\"wp-block-accordion\"><button class=\"accordion\"><div class=\"heading\">Manual Ops and Testing FAQs<\/div><\/button><div class=\"panel\">\n\n<p><strong><em>Q<\/em><\/strong><em>: Will the SubStation updates work with BaseStation 3200 v18 controllers?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>A<\/em><\/strong><em>: Yes and No. The SubStation can still be connected to v18 controllers and be updated to v2.5. This will allow SubStations with Precip and Pressure sensors to work as expected. This will also enable the Manual Operations and Test Devices to work. The SubStation will not be able to pass along Leakage Current, however (that\u2019s exclusive to v19 controllers).<\/em><\/p>\n\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><strong><strong>Improved Cellular Connectivity (SubStation RV\/CP)<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>A new cellular retry logic helps SubStation RV\/CP devices reconnect faster after losing cell tower communication, improving stability across remote and solar-powered sites.
